Rex Minter, who served as Santa Monica’s mayor from 1963 to 1967 and was chosen to serve on the city council when he was just 27 years old, is said to have perished in a plane crash.
According to Fox 7 Austin, a dangerous landing “flipped the aircraft upside down,” which led to a request for assistance from lifeguards and emergency officials at Santa Monica beach.
Former Santa Monica mayor Rex Minter died in the incident; the pilot was taken to the hospital.

After completing law school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and started a legal business in Santa Monica.
