For the radio, the 1930s was a golden age. At the start of the decade 12 million American households owned a radio, and by 1939 this total had exploded to more than 28 million. But why was this talking telegram so popular?

A wildfire broke out on a peak above Salt Lake City this weekend, spurring evacuation orders for dozens of nearby homes. Salt Lake City police released a map of a residential area north of the Utah Capitol building near Ensign Peak where evacuation orders were in place. An evacuation center was established in the Capitol.

OConnor was born in Glenageary, County Dublin, on December 8, 1966. In honor of Saint Bernadette of Lourdes, Irish President amon de Valeras wife Sinad de Valera, and the doctor who oversaw the delivery, she was given the names Bernadette, Sinad, and Marie. A seamount is technically defined as an isolated rise in elevation of 1,000 m (3,281 ft) or more from the surrounding seafloor, and with a limited summit area, of conical form.
